Victorian Vintage wooden plaque door decor

Hello friends ,
Im here today to share an wooden plaque door decor I made recently as an addition to my craft room door . I had been planning to use this plaque with an idea of an vintage mirror look but my choice of colours are always bright and bold so was holding back the idea until I found this lovely lady ephemera. This went in perfectly as I imagined and hence the idea of making a wooden plaque door decor had a free flow.

Now this lovely Victorian Vintage wooden plaque has become a part of my craft room door decor .

  • This is a lovely Vintage looking creation I have tried here using Alcohol inks blue and magenta as the background base of the plaque.
  • I have decoupaged the lady in the frame picture on the wooden plaque.
  •  further added an 3d chipboard frame which I have coloured golden to give the Victorian vintage look to the creation.
  • The colours used are bold yet the outcome is as lovely as it can be !

Handmade Guru Purnima card

Hello friends,

On this auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima , I got a chance to make an Card for the Gurus.

Guru Purnima is a spiritual tradition in Hindu culture dedicated to spiritual and academic teachers, who are evolved or enlightened humans, ready to share their wisdom, with very little or no monetary expectation, based on Karma Yoga

The requirement was of an traditional card so I chose to go with the earthy colours and textures. This is an A 4 sized Kraft card with rustic background made with Jute pattern and Jute ribbon lace. I have used glitter card stock as 2nd layer , on the canvas card I have tried image transfer. I have added handmade flowers as a 3D effect. The edges are distressed for the grungy earthy effect ! Inside the card is personalised with Handwritten note and stamped mandalas.

It goes out with an matching envelope on which I have designed rustic background made with Jute pattern and dry embossed watercoloured card to write the name and details.

I totally loved the experience making this card which is very different to what I usually make and Thank you Madhavi for giving me creative freedom and trusting me!!!

Alcohol Ink Background | Rakhi easel card 2019

Hello friends

Raksha Bandhan means celebrating the unique bond between a brother and a sister... Rakhi is a sacred thread of protection embellished with the love and affection of a sister for her brother. This day of celebration is known as Raksha Bandhan and celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Shravana in India.

Raksha bandhan falls on AUG 15th this year , I have a great connection with my brothers and the celebration of this day is no less festive occasion for me. Hence I gear up a month before to prepare for this event. Here are different cards on the same theme I created this year

I have used my trials with alcohol inks on photo paper as the center piece of the Easel card creations. I have embellished the alcohol background with chipboard embellishments from Mudra and matched with lovely pattern papers from my stash.

These cards are all 7x5 sized greeting cards

I have used sentiment stamps from Mama Elephant In My Heart Stamp Set along with Rakshabandhan sentiment from Mudra stamps.

The inside of the card has mixed and matched stamped sentiments to hold the easel card and also an rakhi goes in the card.

I enjoy making such cards perfect for gifting have dimensions yet go flat into an envelope! Thank you so much for visiting & taking the time to comment on my blog. I love to hear from you & truly appreciate your feedback. Have a crafty day!

Raising a Reader | My Bookworm Dhruv

Hello Friends,

Raising a Reader
I cannot say when exactly I started reading to Dhruv as I have always been reading books through out my pregnancy (as that counts ) and  when Dhruv was born we did sing to him along with reading from day one.

My Mil sang to my son the kathas from Mahabharata and Ramayana and he still loves to listen them in that form from her and I love this tradition. More than teaching the intent ,is to let them listen to our voice, listen to the language, hear that we are talking to them . That's how my journey began.

We introduced him to touch and feel books, flip flap books, pop up books, puppet ones when he was able to sit up. Regarding choosing books till six months you can read anything. After that u can choose books as per category.  As parents our job is to teach our kids to LOVE reading, NOT how to read is what I believe in...

Put books in places the kids are just sitting (car, bathroom, breakfast table, etc.) They will inevitably pick up a book and start reading.

It's important for children to have access to books. They should be encouraged to pick and read the book they fancy and so we started building our little reading nook at home book by book.
Even after children learn to read by themselves, it's still important for you to read aloud together.

As parents, we may often assume that our children will just learn to love reading on their own. But strong readers get there with help — and a library card should be your first tool.

For Dhruv favorite thing to do at the library apart from choosing his books is the self checkout, scan his card and then collect all of his books. He thinks that's the coolest thing!

Let your child choose any books that appeal to them. Feel free to add a few of your choices to the mix — but this should be a time when they know they can bring home lots of books to have around whenever they wants to read.

children love talking to their parents about what they’re discovering, and books offer countless adventures for them to share with you.

I did not have access to as many picture books as my son does and now I am making up for lost time: But my Mother made sure I was a member of a library in Mangalore then...... Please take your child to a library nearby. Read there, borrow books, talk about books, attend book clubs and you will be happy you took a library membership.

London Dreams

Hello friends ,

I'm here today with an lovely Card creation after a long break, though I have been crafting I had taken a break from Card making. I'm still finding my way in improving my areas of strength in crafting and I feel card making goes on to being only my hobby in the world of crafting and I want to keep it that way!!

I have taken up Scrap booking as my full time profession that whenever I need a break I come back to card making to find back my lost mojo. I found this color challenge at Inky Paws Challenge #101 very interesting !

Taken up the colour challenge and this stamp set I have used Newton Dreams of London has been my favourite of all since my stay in London. Almost 2 years gone by but still living each day with those cherished memories of the British summer , greenery , English tea and lovely places to visit !

I have used a pattern paper background , some papers for no reason are hoarded for long and one fine day you are ready to let go and this one is one such pattern paper. I have added a circle die cut in pink and further lovely details from the stamp set. The images of the tubby cat and rest are copic coloured  and added to the card with a double sided foam tape. The sentiment from the same stamp set is added in brown matching the theme and keeping in mind the colour scheme.

I feel wonderful playing along this challenge and hoping to get creating on a new mode
That's all for today
