Quick Diwali Decor ideas

Hello friends ,

Sharada Dilip Happymomentzz

Diwali is the time to decorate your home so that you give your home the most beautiful and festive look.As the countdown for Diwali / Deepavali has begun I'm busy cleaning my home arranging and rearranging home decor and so on. That's the fun part of this festival isn't it , the preparations make the festival more festive !

Over the years my style has changed but the love for decor still remains keeping the minimalist style still in focus , you can see how differently I have decorated my home in my other blog write up IDEAS FOR DECORATING THE HOUSE THIS DIWALI . I have just rearranged my collection, you see in the earlier post and I haven't bought anything new but yes made something New !

I have prepped up my wall with Indian folk art theme this time. Every piece you see here has it's own story to tell 💗The Rajasthani Dolls you see are my travel souvenirs, where ever I travel I bring a piece from there back in my home. The Rajasthani painting you see in the center is made by a professional artist from Rajasthan, I bought this during my trip to Shilpagram , Udaipur. Shilpgram is a rural arts and crafts complex, situated 3 km west of the city of Udaipur. The center is spread over an undulating terrain of about 70 acres of land, surrounded by the Aravali mountains. Shilpgram is an ethnographic museum that depicts the lifestyles of the folk and tribal people of the region. I got the Rajasthani painting framed along with my paintings to bring the a pattern flow in the look.

This year I added 2 painting to my wall that I myself made. There is no surprise that I have been ignoring my painting and art skill since the crafting has taken over my life .I choose to try my hands on 2 different folk arts - Gond Painting and Madhubani art and I am glad I did.

Gond Painting

Sharada Dilip Happymomentzz

Gond paintings are a form of painting from folk and tribal art that is practiced by one of the largest tribes in India with whom it shares its name. The Gonds, are the largest Adivasi Community in India and are Dravidian's whose origin can be traced to the pre-Aryan era. They are mainly found in Madhya Pradesh and its surrounding States. The word Gond comes from Kond, which means green mountains in the Dravidian idiom.

I have hand drawn this picture, taking inspiration from a picture on pinterest.
I have used Staedtler Black Fine-liner Pens here for the sketch and given it a twist by filling in colours using Tombow Dual Brush Pens and not the regular acrylic colours used.

 Madhubani art/ painting

Practiced in the Mithila region of Bihar and Nepal, Madhubani painting is one of the many famous Indian art forms. Madhubani art or Mithila painting was traditionally created by the women of various communities in Mithila region of Bihar, and, it is popularly called Mithila painting or Madhubani art. This painting as a form of wall art was practiced widely throughout the region now you can see the  painting on paper and canvas as well.

For this painting I have used Copic multiliner pen for the sketch which is again an inspiration from a picture on pinterest. I have hand drawn and added colours using Tombow Dual Brush Pens , you can use regular acrylic colours for this and colour the bacground too but I chose to leave it plain.

These 2 paintings were made in a days time after I selected what I wanted to create and which mediums and then a day went to get this frame !

I love using vibrant colours in my creations and Indian folk art is the right blend for me. I am glad I finally got them framed right in time for the festival giving my favourite wall a Quick Diwali makeover. Thank you so much for visiting & taking the time to comment on my blog. I love to hear from you & truly appreciate your feedback. Have a crafty day!

Mini Album with a shadow box center inside !

Hello  friends

I have been excited about making something different and special for a friends daughters 10th birthday ! I am really glad that I came up with something really innovative and gave it a try to make a Mini Album with a shadow box inside right in the center of the album !

The album is 6x6 in size and holds lots of folds and pop outs throughout the album. This album is unlike my other albums , this is a hinge bound album holding 8 sides ie 4 pages in total and 2 hardbound cover. The album is tied down with a ribbon matching the theme colours.

What went in -

I have used the Echo paper Blowing kisses paper pack for this album. The cover of the album is simple decor so that the girl uses it as a diary for regular use! I have used the "Hello Beautiful" sentiment card from DCWV Peri and peach paper pack, the rose stickers are from Itsy Bitsy!

Inside the album I have given ample pocket spaces for the receiver to add in more ! I have decorated the pages with ephemera and handmade embellishments that I make using my scraps.

I have placed small 4x4 note cards with stamped sentiments from Tim Holtz Cling Stamps7 PHRASES 2.

Each page is uniquely decorated and space for pictures is left for mostly 6x4 photo sizes.

Here is a accordion fold attached to the page when opened leads to the 6x4 shadow box fairy land right in the center of the album ! Isn't this exciting and something a 10 girl would dream of  and wish to posses!!!

The 6x4 sized shadow box is decorated with fussy cut fairies from Papericious Fairy land paper pack.
More close ups below...

For a 4 x 6 inch Shadow box you will need a 9 x 11 inch piece of card stock.

The other pages are well decorated with sentiments and more note card tuck ins !

The completed album went in along with a well decorated recycled paper bag whose story I keep it for the next post !

I made this creation as cheerful and as colourful as possible ! I had a lot of fun making these and I hope I inspired you to give this a try .

Handmade Farewell scrapbook album- wishing Good bye and all the best

Hello friends

Today I'm sharing a Handmade Farewell scrapbook album made for my Hubby's colleague wishing him Good bye and all the best!

The album is 8x8 in size with 6 sheets ie 12 sides to fill in and 2 hardbound cover. I have played with mix and match of pattern papers for this Farewell scrapbook album. I have covered the chipboard with pattern paper and decorated the front cover to match a mans taste and  his choice of rustic colours.

I am glad I tried out something masculine as well attractive to go on with the cover page.
I love closing a album with rings as it gives the option of adding more in case of the requirement, hence a ring bound album is always appreciated giving space for growth !

I have given enough empty spaces for the colleagues to write their heart out as well have decoarted the pages keeping it simple and clean !

Here are the page by page view of the Farewell scrapbook album

I have used chipzebs from Mudra craft stamps and coloured them with chalk ink in moss colour.
I have used ephemera's from papericious collection.
I have used Fiskars quote Good time stamp set in the whole album for the sentiments.
I have decorated with coffee cup stickers from Itsy Bitsy inside the album.

I had a lot of fun making these , That is all for today :)

Happy Crafting!
