Handmade Gift bag with tutorial

Hello friends,

Last week you all saw these lovely note cards made and thank you for all the love and appreciation showered on this creation. It means a lot to me. Here I'm back today to share as to how these tags and note card went as a package along with the Handmade Gift bag.

Here are the pictures of the gift bags nearing completion, just before I added the ribbon and name tag and forgot to click the completed picture! Happens to you? Happens with me all the time ;)

How I went on to make these bags?
  • I have used 250gsm cardstock to make these bags
  • The bags require 2 cardstocks each of 12x12"
  • The cardstocks are scored at 3 " in all 3 sides and at 2" on one side
  • The 2" scored side is folded outwards and 3" sides are folded inwards
  • 2 scored cardstocks are joined together at the corners and the bottom making it a bag measuring 7"x6"x3".
  • for the bottom strength, I have given a chipboard cut 3"x4"
  • I have finally decorated both the ends of the bag with pattern papers before the note card is been pasted on it.
  • The color scheme was made on basis of how many boys, girls, and elders attended the event.

Squash book - school project

Hello friends,

When I started blogging I began with a thought of documenting my creations and learning new kinds of stuff and sharing here as my journal but today I'm sharing a creation that belongs to my 8-year-old, it's his school project - Noun folder and hence sharing this place along with him today!

I am sharing a Squash book - school project I made along with my son this week. It is special for me as we were bonding over crafting as well as learning. The project required us making a Noun Folder with loads of pictures and they requested us to be innovative in our creations.

Usually, my 8-year-old handles all his creations himself with very little help from me but this time he wanted to use my craft stash and tools so I just jumped right in!
All mom crafters will surely understand how possessive we are about our stash :p!

This Noun folder needed to hold a lot of pictures and was advised not to be bigger than a notebook.  Something like a scrapbook was in our mind but we both wanted to try something new and then we stumbled upon the idea of making a Squash book sized 6" when completely folded.

I knew exactly where to look for when it comes to well-explained photo tutorials for the School projects, yes I went to look up at   blog and found this

For my creation, I have done changes as I required a bigger book.
I have used 3 pcs of 12" x 12"cardstocks, scored them at 6" and folded them at the half and creased as shown in the tutorial.

I have added 4 pcs of pattern papers inside the squash book sized 6x6" for highlighting and completely decorated the outer cover with pattern paper, washi tape and die cut corners.

I let my son decide what he needs and helped him accordingly. He chose to cut and paste pictures, add the titles and description. He wanted me to do the titles as they needed to be written big and highlighted. While decorating the outer cover I added the Spellbinders die cut corners and he wanted them a few places inside too so I obliged and added them in. Usual school projects he adds borders and colours but this time we added washi tapes we bought at the itsy bitsy sale for 5 rs.

This is how the completed 6x6 album squashed looks. D's school project was a hit in his class and praised by his teacher, what more can he ask for?

That's it from our side for today. Thanks for dropping in would love to know if you enjoyed our work too!! Thank you for stopping by!

Thank you note cards for Birthday

Hello Friends,

I made a bunch of these "Thank you note cards" for a Birthday party recently on commissioned order. The images have been colored using Copic markers and Tombow Dual Brush Markers in combination and fussy cut with love. I have used MUDRA stamps for Thank you sentiment which is the highlight of this creation and Clearly Besotted Stamps, Mama Elephant stamp sets and Itsy Bitsy stamp sets for the cute images.

The note card size is 4x4 inches and the second layer pattern paper is a 1/4th inch smaller. The sentiment card is 3x3" inches respectively. I have adhered the hand stamped images with a double-sided tape to create the 3d dimension effect.

Today's blog is more of a photo update of my creation.

I am thrilled to be using these lovely girls from Clearly besotted "Once upon a time " stamp set here again. They are perfect for small note card creations like these.

I die cut the tags for the gift bag which has "for and from" stamped on it accordingly.

Itsy Bitsy Thin Cut Die - The classy ‘Ornate Frame'

Hello friends,

Itsy Bitsy has recently launched 15 new designs to add to their Thin Cut Dies collection. Each one of these is beautiful & I was sent this adorable Ornate Frame die. Thank you Rashmi Harish & Anitha Mallesh for sending this across I really enjoyed using this with my Dream cut die cutting machine.

I am in midst of preparing my Rakhi collection and I decided to make one exclusively using this die. Raksha Bandhan means celebrating the unique bond between a brother and a sister... Rakhi is a sacred thread of protection embellished with the love and affection of a sister for her brother. This day of celebration is known as Raksha Bandhan and celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Shravana in India. It falls on 26th August this year.

The Itsy Bitsy Thin Cut Die - The classy ‘Ornate Frame' has 3 big shapes that include the outer circle Ornate frame (Large)-10cm, a plain circle center Frame (Medium)- 6cm Frame, and a circle tag Frame (small)- 4cm. The Flowers -1.5 to 2.3cm, Leaf -4cm also come along making it a full package deal.

I have used prime colour cardstocks for this card and kept the design as Clean and Simple as I can make it go folded in an envelope. I have used the Circle ornate frame as the center and placed the second layered circle in a different color over it using double-sided tape to create the 3D effect and completed it with a Brother sentiment sticker. The flowers and leaves are set as a decor in the corner. I have used a sentiment on the card to go along the theme. You can see inside the card I have a pocket made to hold the handmade quilled rakhi and I have used the tag die cut for the decoration of the pocket.

Rakhi cards with Mama Elephant In my heart

Hello Friends

Raksha Bandhan means celebrating the unique bond between a brother and a sister... Rakhi is a sacred thread of protection embellished with the love and affection of a sister for her brother. This day of celebration is known as Raksha Bandhan and celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Shravana in India. It falls on 26th August this year.

I have a great connection with my brothers and the celebration of this day is no less festive occasion for me. Hence I gear up a month before to prepare for this event. I even have a group of friends who live abroad and want me to send rakhis for their brothers in India and I take up to do that for them as well.

Here are my Rakhi cards for this year and I have played with Mama Elephant In my heart stamp set to recreate few of my old creations or as the crafty world says I'm CASING my old cards here.

This stamp set is perfect to share the sentiment of missing the brother on this great occasion. This year I decided to add the boy image along with the girl, unlike the last time...

I have finally overcome my fears of using the distress inks that I have been hoarding and not using !!
I am glad to see how I have improved on my colouring from then to now and finally using more and doing more with my stash!

The last card is a perfect example of stretching my stamps, as I have used many different sentiments from different stamp sets and created a perfect card for the brother.

I'm glad that I didn't go out to find more new stamp sets rather I made the best use of what I have and created such lovely cards with them, that go perfectly for this occasion.

Box Making Workshop

Hello Friends,

I have been taking up workshops lately and this one was not the regular one and it turned out interesting so I decided to blog about it.
This was a box making workshop with an introduction to die cutting and flower making in the process of decorating the boxes. Here are the glimpses into what was made...

My workshops are mostly one on one workshops at my Home studio and I customise them as per the requirement of the student. In my workshops, I usually teach Card Making, Scrapbook album making, Stamping and Much more... Teaching art and conducting workshops gives me immense satisfaction and inspiration to explore new subjects.

On this day we made boxes with my student, 8x8 inch boxes were made and decorated with die cut flowers.

we also made an explosion box  card

I even got to show her the various uses of we are memory keepers box making tool or wrmk 1-2-3 punch and how handy it is.

Here are few Workshops that I have conducted over earlier

Mini album making Workshop at Happymomentzz Home studio
Hobby Ideas Bangalore 2 days Workshop on Cardmaking, Handmade photo frame magnets, and recycled Carton bags.
Summer Camp at Kristal beryl on Dough crafts, Origami and Quilling for Kids projects

Thanks to all the participants for being a part of this endeavor. I hope to come up with many more fun, creative & interesting workshops in the future.
