Christmas Crafts for Kids

Hello Friends ,

Crafting with your kid is always fun and especially during christmas as there is so much joy in the season  itself ! I always enjoyed Christmas crafting as a Kid and decorating the Family tree was my favourite part , though we don't have a Family tree I used to go help in my neighbours :)

When my son insisted on having a Family tree I went ahead and got a Mini tree ! Trust me its more fun . Mini Tree decoration is more of a free play , the size of the tree makes it easy for them to decorate it as they like . It is engaging and the kids take responsibility and pride in it.

This year we even got crafty with a Advent Calendar .

This is a Easy, Last minute, Advent calendar and decor ideas that I am sharing here today . All that I want to do is Make memories with activities leading up to Christmas with these are some of the   DIY holiday d├ęcor crafts we actually made along .

Make Your Own Advent Calendar - Counting down to Christmas day makes the anticipation of its arrival that much more exciting and since my son's birthday also is in the month of december this makes it special for us !! There are loads of tutorials and here's what we followed - How to Create Your Advent Calendar / Service Project Calendar

We enjoyed making this and here is what we call it Random act of kindness cards , we have 25 cards as D is counting his sleeps till his birthday . D did all the cutting and pasting and arranging with very little help from me and Todays prompt was helping Mom !!

Further in our Christmas corner decoration you can see different Santas .

There are several other santas and tutorials on Pinterest but we choose this one and now This cute cone santa sits besides our other 2 santas !

We have created these 3 snowmen using toilet paper roll and you can find the tutorial here

https://www.pinterest.co.uk/sharadadilip/christmas-cards-and-crafts/

We even have a battery operated Santa , who dances to the tunes from Itsy bitsy to complete our Christmas corner decor .  Here are few versions of our christmas corner that has evolved over the years and the constant has been the christmas diorama - Navneet publications Model construction book - Christmas Season which we love putting together each year .

With each year we are adding new crafts  and our corner is growing to be bigger place and we are enjoying it !!
We even are fascinated with the gingerbread house we saw last year at Leela Palace Bengaluru

So my Jr chef wanted to make one too so Then we even tried our hands on making one , isn't this lovely ?

This is made using Gingerbread house  kit , you can find many different kits on amazon

Last but not the least posing out with a big christmas tree for the season !!

"Thank you" for always stopping by my blog and leaving me some love.

Happy holidays!

Burlap canvas mixed media creation

 Hello Friends ,

I am here to share a Burlap Canvas Mixed Media creation, This one turned out stunning and im loving it.

The agenda was to create an Anniversary table top creation on Canvas . I am good with layering and sense of layout but I needed to put this together in such a way that it's perfect for a couple, so the tricky part was to bring out the masculine and feminine touch and blend them well !!

This is how It all fell in place together,  I am sharing a step by step process picture tutorial here .

To begin with  I have used Burlap Canvas readily available at Itsy Bitsy .
I have next adhered  2 layers of paper scraps over it using the medium gesso .
Then I have used CHIPBOARDS SHAPES COGS elements on one end of the canvas and played with them. These elements bring in the meaning of mundane daily routines in the life of the couple .
I have used Gold alcohol spray to create the rustic look on the chipboard shapes.

I have adhered them on the canvas only after being confident as to where they belong !
Usually this process is what takes the longest. I directly do not paste them , I take time... take it slow ; take as many pictures as possible in different positions  and finally only when I'm satisfied I paste it down . Sometime this process takes days !!

I have further gone with having the script stencilled on the other end of the canvas , Giving it a sense of many stories that we have been through and daily routines.Once the modelling paste dried completely after heating it with my Heat tool I took the next step .

I used brown colour ink  to stamp the heart and the keys on the canvas , depicting the love and you are the key to my heart concept .

Next I have used dried flowers in yellow bringing back some sunshine in life ! I have added a Photo mat to it using double sided foam tape .The photo mat is a sticker backing with vintage look perfect for this creation and further I have added a swirl chipboard embellishment. Here again I have used gold alcohol spray to colour it . Lastly I have added chipboard elements silver heart and number 2 element. I have finished the canvas with a quote from Technique tuesday stamp set .

I have further adhered this canvas to a Easel making it a table top Burlap canvas mixed  media creation that rests on the receivers table !

This creation is very close to me with very interestingly elements and each one having its own story to tell !

I am soo glad that this was also received well , making it a perfect anniversary gift  from Recounting memories from the day they met , their journey of falling in love to anniversaries.

I am playing along
