Take the earthen lamps commonly bought during Diwali and get creative with paints and glitter. Decorate them the way you like and light up the house with them.
It is a theme that never gets old. Fill bowls of water and stick some floating candles in it. Add some decorative items and the bottom or color the water for something different.
Instead of the usual plain brown ones or even the painted ones, add your own to special touch and fragrance to the diyas by decorating them with flowers instead.
Hanging a toran outside the house is auspicious as well as decorative. Choose a toran or make one keeping in mind the theme you are following for the home decoration.
Follow the Oriental style of paper lanterns this Diwali for that delicate, exotic yet beautiful decoration.
You can also use decorative bulbs besides the candles and diyas. Electric lamps have also gained popularity in diwali. You can find decorative bulbs in different styles and colors.
You can make your house look great and smell even better by decorating it with assorted flowers.
The traditional rangoli gets a twist as you can add different elements such as diyas, earthen pots, tissue etc to it. You can also get creative with the designs you are making.
Deepavali celebrations begin on Naraka Chaturdashi. This is the day Lord Krishna slew a demon called Narakaasura. Celebrations begin before dawn with the ritualistic oil bath. While taking an oil bath is a Deepavali tradition, we decorate our bathroom doors with writing diwali wishes and this time my son has added his creations here
This year along with my son we made Diwali paper glitter lanterns
Section off an area of your house and decorate it with earthen pots, diyas, dry flowers and some dim light from the candles to give a warm feel to the home.
