Decoupaged Storage Boxes

Hello Friends

Decoupaging is catching up an I see most of the crafters try their hand on it ,

I resisted and finally gave up to the urge to make some !

These are pencil box boxes that I have painted with acrylic colours and decoupaged with pattern papers !

Decoupage or D├ęcoupage is the art of decorating an object by gluing colored paper cutouts onto it in combination with special paint effects and other decorative elements. Commonly, an object like a small box or an item of furniture is covered by cutouts from magazines or from purpose-manufactured papers.

Here in the above picture you can see what all went into making this box.
These are the best types of Glues to use for decoupage:
Mod Podge Decoupage glue – specifically for this craft and available from craft shops. It is perfect as it can be used as both glue and varnish.
PVA glue – all round glue which dries clear and sticks paper, card, fabric, wood and metal.
Spray glue (permanent type) - quick, easy and dries clear
Varnish – the best varnish to use is gloss as no matter how many coats you use it doesn't go cloudy.

If you require a matt finish, use gloss for every coat (to avoid cloudiness) and then use matt varnish for the final coat only.

Embellished them with die cuts !!

I Love the way they turned out .......Hoping to make many more interesting stuffs.

Thank you so much for visiting & taking the time to comment on my blog. I love to hear from you & truly appreciate your feedback. Have a crafty day!

Hello CAS card

Hello Friends,
I have tried out the split and splatter technique here to make this card !

Just used the paint brush and glittered water colours and created this splash of colours by just tapping the brush inwards ! Tried it with different colours and let the colours bleed for this effect

added the border and a hello sticker to complete the card !
I am happy with this sweet and CAS card

Today I am back with an Makeover - yes  an empty Ferraro Roche box gets an Makeover!

I have covered the box with DCWV pattern papers inside out !

I have altered the Chocolate box so that it can become a cover box to hold on to Family Memory Album I made earlier Here.

I have distressed the edges of the box with tattered rose distress ink and added an memories stamp to match with the album.

Added on an Handmade Scallop Circle Flower and MS punch butterflies.

Now the box has found a new use as well the album rests well inside a Lovely box !

Recycled - Shabby Chic Alarm Clock

Hello Friends,

I have an interesting makeover today at my Blog , I have tried to use all the stuffs I hoard to recycle reuse or re-purpose! This is finally done after keeping it for years throwing out some and finally making one !

I am talking about the empty brown tape rings , which i have used as the base !

Supplies used -
Brown tape ring
Sizzix Tim holtz alterations tick-tock die (BIGZ DIE-TICK TOCK)
to cut Cardbaord and Dcwv  Pattern papers
Old wedding Invitation card is cut in circle shape
Gift wrapping papers used for Flowers with Timholtz alterations tattered flowers die

a message bottle
ribbon lace

I have painted the Brown tape ring in and out  blue with acrylic colours , for the inside backdrop  added the circle cut invitation card as the base to make it like a spool !

Both the ends I have stuck the Tick tock die cut which is sturdy because of the cardbaord to make it stand like a clock!

Covered the middle part with the ribbon lace from the tailors waste !

This is how the back end looks , incase I want to add an message , keeping it empty for now!

Made these 2  flowers out of  tattered flowers die along the gift wrapping paper waste  and secured it with the brad,  all in all used Autumn colors.......

To embellish I have added hand cut leaves and mini flowers up the side and a Butterfly sticker !

Inside the clock a little trinklet message bottle sits with 2 lovely charms on it  to enhance the beauty of this makeover !

Finally on display on my wall box :)

Crazy Birds Mixed Media Canvas wall art

Hello Friends ,
I have always loved working with different mediums on Canvas, till lately I dint realise that it was what Mixed media was !

Today I have created an Crazy Birds Mixed Media Canvas wall art for my Sons room using Tim holtz crazy bird stamp set!

A work on canvas that combines paint, ink, and collage could properly be called a "mixed media" work, When creating a painted or photographed work using mixed media it is important to choose the layers carefully and allow enough drying time between the layers to ensure the final work will have structural integrity. If many different media are used it is equally important to choose a sturdy foundation upon which the different layers are imposed.

These stamped images of crazy birds were a sweet swap from a crafter friend Tanvi , I am not  such a big fan of these birds but when I  received it from her my son was all excited and wanted to make it his own !

Step by step tutorial

Must say they are a great ones for the mixed media creations !

I coloured them using my new found love for Soft Pastel chalks, They are easy to colour blend well and when brushed with water blends like a water colour . This did bring in magic and the effect I wanted !

Here I have used a 8x6 Canvas and coloured it with my Maped colour pens smoothy, they are colour crayons that turn into water colours when brushed with water! you can see my few other creations with these pens HERE

My new addition in the craft room is the Gesso, yes I have got it finally and put it in use and loving the effect that formed on the canvas !

Added in some scraps of paper and stencilled them like bricks  for the birds to perch on and finally stamped a few twigs around . These wordings I have hand written !

Given it a 3d effect  with double sided tapes to the birds so that they stand out !

Hope you enjoy it as much I did !

Grandparents Day DIY Tabletop Photo Album

Hello everyone,

I am super excited today,

Grandparents Day is celebrated on the first Sunday in September after Labor Day, and it is the perfect opportunity to spend time with the grandparents we love so much!

For the Crafty kid and me it’s a good time to think about making them some meaningful gifts !
We came up with an Idea of a Table Top Family Flip Album.

Table Top Family Flip Album.

DIY Tabletop Photo Album that Grandparents will love!
Supplies needed to make your own Table Top Family Flip Album.

  • Double sided pattern papers
  • Silver snap Rings
  • Stickers / embellishments
  • Ribbon (your choice)
  • Photos
  • Punch

The inside of the album has 8 pages.
I simply cut out some patterned paper from the kit and mounted my photos (that we collected the recent pictures from the family outings) and added a few embellishments with help of my 5 year old , who was all excited making something special for his Grand parents with his and his cousins pictures in them!

This was my way of teaching him his Family tree !

We have kept the back side of the paper empty to fill in messages from the rest of the Grandkids  so once all the messages come in the album gets completed

They can flip pages and keep changing the page of display !
We are gifting this to them so they can display this on their corner table :)

Ask your kids to Sit down with their grandparents and have some quality time with them. Get them talking about what they did when they were young, (this includes their kids, not just the grandkids), what was it like, ask about their parents and grandparents, etc. This would really make their day !

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and if you come up with your own version of this

don't forget to leave me a comment on this post.

I would love to visit and take a look.

Thank you so much for visiting & taking the time to comment on my blog. I love to hear from you & truly appreciate your feedback.
